![]() ![]() Such efforts were strengthened through the Computer Security Act of 1987 (Public Law 100-235), broadened through the Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002 (FISMA) (Public Law 107-347), and reaffirmed in the Federal Information Security Modernization Act of 2014 (Public Law 113-283). One of NIST’s key roles is to research, develop, and deploy information security standards and technology to protect the Federal Government’s information systems against threats to confidentiality, integrity, and availability. As a non-regulatory agency, NIST leverages its deep technical expertise, as well as its power as a convener of stakeholders from government, academia, and the private sector to develop and improve solutions to a wide range of technical and policy cybersecurity challenges. ![]() innovation and industrial competitiveness in ways that enhance economic security and improve our quality of life. NIST is a non-regulatory agency with the mission to promote U.S. Specifically, I will discuss NIST’s activities in support of the cybersecurity Framework and NIST’s cybersecurity portfolio.
